Project Bags 2.0 Addendum- Kit Club Curiouser and Curiouser #3


For this project we are making the project bag with BORDER OPTION 2 (single fabric only) But will be adding beautiful ribbons to embellish the borders.


Ribbon Cutting instructions:


Jumbo: 

Cut the following ribbons 16½” long:

1 x Painted Roses

1 x Mad Hatter

2 x Teacup


Medium:

Cut the following ribbons 12½” long:

1 x Painted Roses

1 x Mad Hatter


For the Jumbo: 16½” x 16½” 


TIP: For fussy cutting the Jumbo Lining fabric follow these instructions (optional):


  1. Layout your Alice fabric so that you have two whole Alice motifs in the center.  

  2. Mark lines A and B by marking a vertical line 1” from the right of the right motif (line A) and 1” from the left of the left motif (line B). 

  3. Mark line C, by marking a 18” long horizontal line 6½” down from the bottom of the green and teal leaf extended at the bottom of the Allice motif and between the just marked vertical lines. 

  4. Mark line D by marking a horizontal line 18” up from line C and between A and B lines. 

  5. Measuring between the two horizontal lines marked 1” from the left and right motif making sure it measures 18”. Adjust as needed.

  6. Cut along the marked lined leaving a 18”x18” fussy cut Lining fabric. 

  7. Proceed to cutting instructions



Insert addendum after step III C. 5 and just before IV A.


ADDING RIBBONS

D. Adding top border ribbon. 

  1. Using your prepared Teacup ribbon, place over the bottom zipper strip between the zipper tape and the vinyl window. 

  2. Using mono poly thread or matching thread color stitch along the edge of the ribbon continuing around all sides 

  3. Trim ribbon ends even with sides of Bag Body


Tip: a switch of glue or basting tape will keep the ribbon in place and prevent stretching while sewing. 

E. Adding bottom border ribbon.

  1. Starting at the top of the bottom border, place your prepared Painted Roses ribbon just under the vinyl window. 

  2. Stitch the top of the Painted Roses ribbon.

  3. Butt the prepared Mad Hatter ribbon just under the Painted Roses ribbon and stitch together using a zig-zag stitch. 

  4. Next butt the Teacup ribbon just under the Mad Hatter and stitch together using a zig-zag stitch. Sew all sides of the ribbon.




For the Medium: 10½” x 12½” 


Insert addendum after step III C. 5 and just before IV A.


ADDING RIBBONS

C. Adding bottom border ribbon.

  1. Using mono poly thread or matching thread color stitch along the edge of the ribbon as directed.

  2. Starting at the top of the bottom border, place your prepared Painted Roses ribbon just under the vinyl window. Stitch all the way around the edge of the ribbon. 

  3. Center the Stitch the prepared Mad Hatter ribbon about ¼” under the Painted Roses ribbon and about 5/8” up from the bottom of the border.  Stitch all the way around the edge of the ribbon. 

  4. Trim ribbon ends even with sides of Bag Body


Tip: a bit of glue or basting tape will keep the ribbon in place and prevent stretching while sewing.
