The jacquard process, which originated in France in the early 19th century perfected the weaving of an almost infinite variety of textures colors and intricate patterns on a minute scale.

Before the invention of the jacquard loom woven patterned fabric was made by hand, being very labor intensive and expensive, using a system of punch cards linked together in a continuous belt not unlike the early computers the jacquard loom mechanized the production of patterned textiles and their manufacture was begun on an industrial scale.

Jacquard weaving captured the essence of the glittering elegance of the French courts and wove it into a tangible form; Ribbons were the epitome of refinement, and they were incorporated in fabric, furnishings and fashion.

Our archive of woven ribbons reveals a multitude of subtle effects, from wide dense and robust gold weaves to delicate shimmering lacy and diaphanous.

Our collection of Jacquard woven ribbons presents a unique opportunity unlikely to ever be repeated, we will begin our offering to our dedicated ribbon lovers with a selection of 30 ribbons. Many of them are one of a life time, never to be seen again because nobody does this kind of handwork nowadays
